About
Free AI Girlfriend is written by Jordan Reyes, which is a pen name: it is the signature of Le Bazar de Babylone, the company that publishes the site, and on an adult subject I'd rather keep my private life separate. Free, in these apps, is a design decision: every app chooses how much you see before the paywall. I wanted to know how far you get before anyone asks for a card, and what paying really unlocks, app by app. That's what Free AI Girlfriend is about. I've paid for Candy AI and OurDream AI myself; for the other apps, the numbers come from the research described below.
How I look at an app
I look where you'd look first: the free tier. How many messages, whether they come back tomorrow, free images, whether memory carries over, what's locked and what unlocking it costs. The numbers come from each app's own pricing pages, help center and terms, then get compared with what its users describe in public reviews and forums. When sources disagree, I go with the answer I see most often. When a number can't be pinned down, it stays off the page rather than being guessed.
How the scores work
Every app gets a Free AI Girlfriend score out of 10, built from five criteria. Each criterion is scored from 7 to 10: 7 means it does the job, 9 and up means it's among the best here. The score is the weighted average, rounded to one decimal. What you get once you pay counts most, because that's where you'll spend your time.
- Features and quality, 35%: memory, voice, images, video and character creation, and how well each works according to users.
- Subscription value, 25%: the cheapest monthly price (the renewal price when it's higher) and how much in-app currency comes with it.
- Billing fairness, 15%: renewal jumps, refund rules, how easy it is to cancel, whether costs are published.
- User reviews, 15%: how the people who use the app describe it in public reviews and forums, from the features they praise to the reasons they stay.
- Free tier, 10%: how much you get before paying, and whether it refills.
Scores come from that research, and I update them when an app changes its prices or its free tier. Affiliate commissions never go into a score.
How the lists are ordered
The full ranking, the page with all ten apps and the guide to tokens and coins follow the score. The cheapest-apps guide follows the lowest monthly price each app shows on its own plan page; at the same price, the higher score goes first. The free-tier guide follows the free-tier criterion; at the same mark, the higher score goes first. When two apps still tie, the one that pays the site the higher commission is listed first, and the page says so where it happens.
How the site makes money
Some links on Free AI Girlfriend are affiliate links. If you sign up or subscribe through one, the site may earn a commission, and you pay the same price. That's what keeps the lights on. It never changes a score or a fact: prices, free limits and renewal terms read the same whatever an app pays. It can change which apps I put forward first on the home page, and the order of two apps that tie. The details are on the affiliate disclosure page.
